A fortune-teller there viewed my birth chart and told me three things. First, I would marry someone from the southeast\u2014a husband younger than me, yet gentle, considerate and kind to me. Second, I wasn't cut out for government work. I should venture out into the world and make a living with my own skills and wit. Third, an elder in my family would soon be involved in an accident with bloodshed, but more scared than hurt.<\/p><p>I was quite skeptical. After all, as a science major, I believed only in materialism. Less than a month later, my father was hit by a car while walking down the street. The moment I received that phone call, my heart nearly stopped. As it turned out, he only suffered some superficial injuries and was fine. In the years that followed, all of his predictions came true. I no longer viewed them as mysterious curses or blessings, but began to revere the logic behind them\u2014the way energy flows.<\/p><p>To understand this force, I immersed myself in ancient texts and systematically studied the Eight Characters. I gradually came to realize that the study of numerology is not about passively accepting your fate, but rather about understanding one's own strengths and weaknesses, knowing that the fortune trend is not fixed but changes every ten years.
